One Week and Three Days In my Apartment
Jun. 1st, 2021 01:05 pmI was going to try to do these entries weekly but I've been too tired or I just straight up forgot to post on Saturday the twenty-eighth of May. It's been kind of fun here. Met some people and made some friends. Went back to the gym for the first time in about three months. Did some laundry. Fixed a zapping problem, even!
It's been really tiring. I just now feel like I've gotten some of my energy back. Moving is exhausting. I hope it's going to be my last move ever because even though I had some help, it's just worn me out. So, if I don't have a consistent entry posting schedule for now, I apologize. I will get better with it!
Having my own place is fun. I only sometimes forget that I moved. I know that sounds really weird but it's true! when you sit in the dark and are only looking at one screen, you (or maybe it's just me?) tend to forget where you are for a little while until you look around the room and go "oh, right! I moved..." Hoping this gets better in the next few months.
The people here are nice. I've turned myself into such an introvert though, that mingling is kind of hard right now. Maybe that will get better in time, but for right now I'm perfectly happy in my own little cave. I have made a few friends though! I talk to them whenever I go outside the building if anyone is out there when I head out somewhere.
Finally went to the gym after a three month hiatus. twenty minutes on a treadmill at 2.3mph pace wasn't as hard as I thought it would be after not doing it for three months. The plan is to go every other day right now. Fine by me because like I've already said above, the move has just worn me out!
Laundry was fun. I put everything in the wash and that was fine. It was a heavy load so it took a while for it to run through the washer. I go to put the heavy load in the dryers and I had some winter stuff that needed washing before I put it away, and then I had just the regular summer wearing clothes or whatnot. I put the winter stuff in one dryer, and go to put the quarters in, and it spits the coins back out at me into the coin return slot. I think "Okay... I'll try the middle one..." I put the money in that one, and pick the setting of "delicates" and apparently delicates take eighty-three minutes to dry! i go to try to use a third dryer that is here, and that one just straight up ate my change because it worked, but it screamed so loud that I didn't want to use it. So, I go to take the load I had in there, out, and put it all in one dryer that didn't eat my money... it wasted it though. I just had to time it for thirty minutes and then take the laundry out and it was relatively dry with only a few damp spots on clothing. So basically what could have been just a dollar and some change, turned out to be three dollars and fifty cents! I have learned my lesson! Next week should be better!
There has been an electrical shock in my apartment pretty much ever since I officially moved in on the twenty-first. Literally in my light switches. I go to turn on a light and ZAP! I assumed already it was because of the new carpet, but this was getting out of hand when the electrical charge would literally zap into my fingers up to my knuckles... it. hurt! So i got a humidifier and that seems to have been helping tremendously!
I guess all-in-all I'm enjoying myself. Finally have found a routine of some sort even though It's only been a week and a couple of days here.
